What Are Cookies?

XSaved uses browser storage mechanisms similar to cookies to store your preferences and bookmark data locally on your device.

How XSaved Uses Browser Storage

XSaved uses Chrome's local storage API to store data directly in your browser. This is similar to cookies but provides more storage space and better security for your bookmark data.

Essential Storage

These storage mechanisms are necessary for the Extension to function:

Bookmark Data: Stores your saved bookmarks locally
View Preferences: Remembers your preferred display mode (grid/list)
Settings: Stores your customization preferences
Tags & Folders: Maintains your organizational structure

Analytics Storage (Optional)

We use minimal local storage for anonymous usage statistics:

Usage Patterns: Track which features are used most
Performance Metrics: Monitor extension load times
Error Tracking: Identify and fix bugs

Note: All analytics data is anonymous and cannot be linked to you personally.

Third-party cookies and website analytics

The XSaved extension does not load advertising networks, social media widgets, or third-party analytics, and it places no third-party cookies in your browser. Nothing about your bookmark library is sent to an advertiser.

The websites at xsaved.com and ios.xsaved.com are different. They use two third-party analytics services: Google Analytics 4, which counts visits and shows which pages people reach, and Microsoft Clarity, which records aggregate interaction data such as clicks and scrolling so we can find broken layouts. Both set their own cookies and both receive your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view.

We do not run advertising cookies, build advertising profiles, or sell or share this data. You can block both with your browser's third-party cookie setting or a tracker blocker. Blocking them changes nothing about how the extension works.

Managing Your Storage

You have full control over the data XSaved stores on your device:

Clear Extension Data

Open Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings
Click on "View permissions and data stored across sites"
Search for "XSaved" and select it
Click "Clear data" to remove all stored information

Uninstall the Extension

Uninstalling XSaved will automatically remove all locally stored data, including your bookmarks and preferences. Make sure to export your bookmarks first if you want to keep them.

Export Your Data

You can export all your bookmarks at any time:

Open XSaved extension
Click on Settings
Select "Export Bookmarks"
Choose JSON or CSV format

Browser Privacy Settings

Your browser provides built-in controls for managing storage and cookies:

Block third-party cookies in your browser settings
Clear browsing data regularly
Use incognito/private browsing mode
Enable "Do Not Track" in browser settings

Note: Clearing browser data will remove XSaved's local storage, including your bookmarks.

Data Security

All data stored by XSaved remains on your device and is protected by your browser's security mechanisms:

Data is isolated from other websites and extensions
Browser storage is encrypted at the operating system level
Extension data stays on your device unless you turn on XSaved account sync
Only the XSaved extension can access its stored data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use browser storage.
