Get started with XSaved for Chrome
A free Chrome extension to search and organize X (Twitter) bookmarks with folders, tags, notes, bulk editing, and HTML or JSON export. Local use needs no XSaved account; sync is optional.
Add the free Chrome extensionOpen your saved posts
- Install XSaved from the Chrome Web Store.
- Sign in to X in that browser and open your X bookmarks. X may redirect to its current History view.
- Let XSaved capture the bookmarks it can load. Existing-library import can take time and depends on what X makes available.
- Search for words you remember, open an author, or create a folder and file a few saves. Use the sample-library demo to explore the interface first.
What is included for free?
- Search saved post text by keyword or exact phrase.
- Filter by author, folder, tag, hashtag, or media type.
- Create folders without X Premium and file a post in more than one folder.
- Add personal tags and notes.
- Edit folders, tags, and notes on multiple bookmarks with Undo.
- Browse saved posts by author.
- Export captured bookmarks by folder as HTML or JSON.
Take a copy of your library
Open Settings → Data, choose HTML Report or JSON under Export Bookmarks, then select Export Bookmarks. The download contains the bookmarks XSaved has captured, organized by folder.
HTML is for reading; JSON is structured data. Neither is a guarantee that external media will remain available. A bookmark in two folders appears in both sections of JSON, so deduplicate by post ID when analyzing it. Exported notes and tags can be private: review a copy before uploading or sharing.
These examples contain invented posts and placeholder links. The HTML layout is simplified. They illustrate the formats, not a real library or an importable recovery backup.
Questions and limitations
- Is XSaved for Chrome free?
- Yes. Search, folders, tags, notes, author browsing, bulk editing, and HTML/JSON export are included at no cost. XSaved Pro is a separate paid upgrade in the iPhone app.
- Do I need X Premium or an XSaved account?
- You do not need X Premium or an XSaved account for local Chrome use. You must be signed in to X to import your private bookmarks. An XSaved account is needed if you choose cross-device sync.
- Where are my bookmarks stored?
- Bookmarks are stored and searched locally in your browser by default. Turning on optional XSaved account sync sends your library and organization data to XSaved's backend. Optional usage analytics and masked replay require separate consent. See the privacy policy for details.
- Which export formats are available?
- HTML and JSON. HTML is a readable report; JSON contains structured bookmark data grouped by folder, including tags and notes. Review private information before sharing a file. The current Chrome export menu does not offer CSV.
- Does the Chrome extension search by meaning?
- Chrome searches saved text and offers author, folder, tag, hashtag, and media filters. Search by meaning is available in XSaved Pro on iPhone.
- Does XSaved connect directly to ChatGPT, Notion, or an MCP client?
- There is no direct Chrome integration or live MCP connection. You can export JSON and use it manually in another tool that accepts it. Check that tool's supported file formats and privacy settings first.
- Can it recover deleted posts?
- XSaved can retain text it captured before a post disappeared. It cannot recover content it never captured, and remote images or videos may become unavailable. Browser storage can also be cleared, so keep an export if the content matters to you.
- Does XSaved work on iPhone?
- XSaved for iPhone is a separate native app on the App Store. It imports directly from X without a desktop or extension. Optional account sync connects its library with Chrome.
